The TVP 16s traveled to Spooky Nook on Saturday, January 21 to play in the 16 team Nook Mid-Winter Classic. Tournament organizers were faced with shuffling the schedule when a team dropped late on Friday. TVP offered to split its team into two teams to fill the open spot. Faced with the challenge of balancing competitiveness and full-time, 6 rotation playing time, the now two tVP teams--TVP 16 Blue and TVP 16 Black--stepped up. TVP 16 Blue swept its pool with a 4-0 match record, while TVP 16 Black finished second in its pool with a 3-1 match record. Both teams won their quarterfinal match; TVP 16 Blue earned a 2-1 victory in it's semifinal while TVP 16 Black fell 15-12 in the deciding third set in its semifinal. Though falling just short of an all-TVP championship match, TVP earned the championship and third place.
Back together as one team in Bethlehem on Sunday, January 22, TVP 16 advanced to the semifinals, finishing third. The weekend scoreboard tally: two tournaments, 12-4 match record, two third place finishes, one championship and 400 miles travelled.
TVP 18 travelled north to tournaments in Millersville and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on January 7 and 8. Early mornings and a late night on the road did not get in the way of longer days in the gym as the team advanced out of it's pool at each tournament in first place. TVP swept its pool at the January 7 Marauder Clash at Millersville University, advanced to the championship match after a solid semifinal win, finishing as silver medalists after a close tournament final.
The team again finished first in pool play, earning a bye in the first round of the playoffs and ultimately a top 5 finish. For the weekend, The TVP 18s earned a 19-5 record in sets, and 9-2 in matches.
